COLUMBIA, S.C. - BorgWarner Inc. (NYSE: BWA), a global leader in powertrain solutions, is expanding its existing manufacturing operations in Oconee County. The $13.3 million investment is expected to create 50 new jobs in Seneca, S.C., over the next five years.

Borg-Warner Corporation was formed in 1928 by four automotive suppliers, including Borg & Beck, Marvel-Schebler, Mechanics Universal Joint, and Warner Gear-the forerunner of BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems. Today, as one of the top suppliers for the global automotive industry, BorgWarner operates 58 facilities in 19 countries, employingapproximately 22,000 workers worldwide. With a diverse customer base, the company serves a variety of markets, including the passenger car and light truck, commercial vehicle, off-highway, construction and agricultural markets.

BorgWarner last announced a South Carolina expansion in November 2013, a $24.6 million investment that created 105 new jobs. With this new expansion, BorgWarner will be remaining in its existing facility, located at 15545 Wells Highway in Seneca. Aimed at increasing the facility’s transfer case production, the expansion will be achieved with the purchase of new machinery and the expected hiring of 50 new employees, which will bring its total local employment to more than 750.

In addition to this expansion, BorgWarner also has recently reached an agreement with the City of Seneca to lease approximately 100,000 square feet within the Seneca Commerce Center, located at 320 Shiloh Road. The company will use the newly-leased facility as warehouse space.

Hiring for the new positions is anticipated to begin in June 2015. Those interested in joining the BorgWarner team may visit the company’s careers page online. For more information on BorgWarner Inc., visit www.borgwarner.com.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
