Unite behind Oconee

By Daja Dial

We’re all fans of something. Whether it’s a sports team or a celebrity or a musician, every one of us has someone or something that we can’t help but cheer for. Now, imagine getting rewarded for all of your time spent being a loyal fan. By becoming a fan and ally of the up and coming Oconee County, you get the best of both worlds.

Oconee has blossomed into one of the leading upstate areas for recreation and natural beauty. Oconee Allies have been given the task of spreading the word about this hidden gem, perfect for business expansions, relocations, and start-ups. People who share the latest news and information like blog posts, events, and contests using social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter are considered to be our Oconee Allies.

Like we mentioned before, there are big perks involved with aligning yourself with the Oconee Allies. Allies can earn points by sharing and generating traffic through their posts. The more action (likes, retweets, shares, etc.) that you stir up, the more points you will be credited. Additionally, points can be earned in recruiting your friends to join the program. Three very devoted Oconee Allies will have the chance to win $100, $250 or $500. You read that right! The overall winner will be named the “Oconee Digital Ambassador of the Year” and will be recognized at our Annual Meeting in November.

So how do you become an ally? Simply connect one of your networks using the buttons found on the Oconee Ally signup page (www.oconeeally.com) and it will take you step by step through the quick process. Not all of your social media networks are required for connection, however the more social networks you connect to, the more opportunities you’ll have to earn points.

If you’re nervous about giving away your social media information, rest assured that Oconee Allies never have content posted to their social networks without being explicitly notified. Even if you choose to auto-post content, you have the option to opt-out of each post before it is shared. When it comes to sharing content, you will receive an email when we have new information to spread about the blossoming region of Oconee. Within each email you will receive a status update and link to the content we’re sharing with you. As soon as you press the click to share button, the status update will automatically post to the social networks you selected.

As you share and repost content, your points are being tracked and awarded. So what are you waiting for? Are you Oconee’s ultimate fan? Become an Oconee Ally so that one day down the road, when Oconee glows up into the prosperous region that we know it is headed to be, you can say you played a part.
