City of Seneca Announces New Tenant in the Seneca Commerce Center
SENECA, S.C. – BorgWarner Inc., a global leader in powertrain technology, has agreed to lease approximately 100,000 square feet within the former Propex facility now known as the Seneca Commerce Center located at 320 Shiloh Road.
The City of Seneca purchased the building in 2012 to provide multi-tenant space for economic development purposes in partnership with Oconee County’s purchase of the adjacent rail served land known as the Seneca Rail Site. Once fully developed the building and land will encompass what is the City of Seneca’s first industrial park.
The Seneca Commerce Center, a former manufacturing facility, consists of a total of 423,020 square feet and features the following tenants: BorgWarner, Johnson Controls, Altera Polymers, and the Seneca Electric Bus Division. With this announcement, there is approximately 60,000 square feet of space remaining for lease.
“This public-public partnership is a wonderful example of what working together can accomplish,” stated Paul Cain, Vice Chair/District Three (Seneca Area), of Oconee County Council. “Along with this, we have helped one of our employers grow in our community and all this translates into a win-win scenario.”
“The efforts of the City of Seneca to invest into itself by taking an old facility and making it a tool for economic development should be applauded,” commented Oconee Economic Alliance Chairman Glenn Buddin.
“On behalf of the City of Seneca and the Council, we are excited about how this venture has come to fruition through working as a team with the County and the Oconee Economic Alliance,” Mayor Dan Alexander. “I thank BorgWarner for their commitment and to all our tenants for making this facility a success.”
