Made In Oconee” is a coordinated marketing initiative established by the Oconee Economic Alliance to enrich the relationship between local manufacturers and the School District of Oconee County. This multi-tiered campaign highlights products made in Oconee County and the people who make them.

The second video in the “Made In Oconee” campaign, filmed at Koyo Bearings in Walhalla, SC concentrates on the immediate change in perception that takes place when a student sees a manufacturing facility up close and in person. Viewers get to see the shift in the students’ attitudes as their awareness changes. As with the first video in the “Made In Oconee” series, the responses were revelatory and will play an important role in conversations regarding the futures of Oconee County’s students.

“Koyo Bearings is extremely excited to be a part of the ‘Made In Oconee’ campaign,” said Todd Massenburg, Human Resource Manager for Koyo Bearings in Walhalla, SC. “We enjoyed working with the students featured in the video and hope that it will have an impact on the students and the decisions they make for many years to come. We hope that they will keep manufacturing in mind when choosing a career path.”

After gaining insight on the student’s perception of manufacturing while making the first “Made In Oconee” video, the Oconee Economic Alliance was pleased to expand the campaign. There are currently plans for multiple follow-up videos.

“We wanted the videos to be a way to reach students where they already are- on the internet,” said Caroline Warner, Marketing & Research Manager for the Oconee Economic Alliance. “The first video was such a conversation starter that we felt it would be a disservice to our students and our industry if we didn’t continue to expand the ‘Made In Oconee’ campaign to drive that conversation further.”

The “Made In Oconee” initiative is the Oconee Economic Alliance’s effort to raise the visibility of the manufacturing industry, bridge the gap between manufacturing facilities and the school system to highlight diverse employment opportunities for our students, as well as ensure local manufacturers have access to skilled, local talent.
